Aquarium of Gijón and its collection

Aquarium of Gijón, opened in 2006, is an aquarium in Gijón, Spain.

Officially inaugurated on 9 June 2006 and opened to visitors the following day, it was once run by Coutant Aquariums and now operates under Bioparc. An exhibition space of 2,000 sq m holds 60 freshwater and saltwater tanks. There is also an events auditorium, a teaching room of roughly 100 sq m and a recovery area for marine mammals and reptiles.

Animals and collection

Animals on show include carabela portuguesa, tortuga lora and tiburones.

Its exhibits include Río Cantábrico, Zona intermareal, Gran Oceanario, Bosque Húmedo Americano and Caribe.

• The entire tour route is fully accessible for visitors with reduced mobility, supported by adapted restrooms
