Aquarium Boka — Aquarium in Kotor
Aquarium Boka and its collection
Aquarium Boka, opened in 2021, is an aquarium in Kotor, Montenegro.
This is the country's first and only public aquarium, and more than 8,000 people came in its opening three months. The Institute of Marine Biology in Kotor is the only body in the southern Adriatic studying and protecting marine biodiversity and river catchments, pairing research with education to promote marine conservation.
History
The aquarium is housed in the Radoničić Palace, put up in the early 1800s. A dedicated laboratory was established three decades ago, equipped with tanks, circular pools and cold rooms for rearing and studying aquatic organisms.
