Alameda Park Zoo
Alameda Park Zoo and its collection
Alameda Park Zoo, opened in 1898, is a zoo in Alamogordo, United States.
History
The zoo was set up on its present spot in 1898 to amuse rail passengers waiting during refuelling stops. Early stock arrived as unwanted pets handed over by townspeople, raccoons and skunks among them. The original chain-link cages were replaced from the 1970s and 1980s onward.
